What is infertility?
Infertility commonly refers to a female or male losing the ability to contribute to conception. There are strict definitions of infertility used by medical doctors. Normally the medical definition of infertility focuses on the female side. It is considered infertile if the woman under 35 fails to become pregnant after 12 months of regular unprotected sex with her partner. The time to get pregnant become 6 months if the woman is over 35.
One in six couples suffers the infertile problems, but the most cases actually are sub fertile, the couples produce eggs and sperms but suffered difficulty conceiving due to unproven medical reasons or endocrine system disorders such as hormone imbalances.
What are the reasons of infertility?
According the Australia’s National Infertility Networks there are 15 percent of couples have suffered the difficulties of conceiving in Australia.
There are various factors can affect the ability to have children on temporary period. Sometimes it come from the man’s sperm problems; Sometimes it caused by female’s fallopian tube are scarred or blacked from infection or ectopic pregnancy; Sometimes it come from fault lifestyle such as heavy smoking or drinking; Sometimes there are no reasons to tell or just hormone imbalances.
The causes are possible on either female or male sides. In approximately 40 percent of infertility caused by the female problems and 40 percent are male factors such as sperm dysfunction or insufficient number; 20 percent cases can’t explained or shorted of medical proven factors.

1. Kidney asthenia type
Syndrome: Sore and weakness of lower back, experienced in delayed menstruation, scanty menorrhea with light reddish colour, thin and slow pulse, light colour tongue due to asthenia of kidney yang; Experienced in the lead-up to the period or menstruation, scanty menorrhea with dark red colour without blood clot, dizziness, insomnia, dry mouth, emaciation and reddish tongue due to asthenia kidney Yin.
2. Live depression type
Syndrome: Irregular menstruation, abdominal pain during menstruation, scanty menorrhea with blackish colour and clot, depression, easy to anger, reddish tongue and taut pulse.
3. Phlegm-dampness type
Syndrome: Obesity, delayed menstruation or even amenorrhea, palpitation, dizziness, chest oppression, nausea, whitish greasy tongue coating and slippery pulse.
4. Blood stasis type
Syndrome: Delayed menstruation with scanty menorrhea, purplish menorrhea with colt, dysmenorrhoea, refused pressure abdominal pain during menstruation, blackish tongue, taut and unsmooth pulse.
The acupuncture treatment will be carried out around 12th day of the menstrual cycle. The acupoints will be chosen according the different syndrome. Normally the treatment course is about ten times once two days.
