Reflexology is effective for phantom lower limb pain

Posted on 12th Jul 2010 @ 2:55 PM

Moraska CA has carried out reflexology treatment for patients with lower limb amputation and phantom limb pain once a week during 30 weeks. Seven male and three female participants with lower limb amputations completed this study.

The therapist taught participants a reflexology routine for self-treatment. The treatments were repeated once a week with guidance given as the participants practised.

The researchers concluded that reflexology treatment and the self-treatment reflexology had had a positive effect on this group of clients.
